Labor Day in Houston was nothing short of fabulous as it is every year however this year Drake’s Summer Sixteen Tour fell on Labor Day weekend and nothing was the same. If you follow Drake on social media, he posted lots of events that he would be attending in Houston and that’s just what he did, ran through the city with his woes lol He had two shows at the Toyota Center one Saturday night one Sunday night. I went to the Sunday night show but not before attending the OVO VS RAP-A-LOT Celebrity Charity Basketball game held at TSU H&PE arena Sunday morning. Btw, I also work for Fox 26 Morning Entertainment so I grabbed a cameraman and we had some fun interviewing some people at the arena including CEO Rap-a-lot founder and my friend J Prince and his sons. Drake arrived to pure pandemonium! I wonder how they would be able to hold all the people back from their seats to get to him. It was crazy to watch it unfold. It was wonderful to see J Prince and Drake, also Drake with Houston’s own Mayor Sylvester Turner.
The party then continue to the Summer Sixteen concert at the Toyota Center, where by the way thank you to J for the floor access and VIP area I was given passes to. He gives them to me for every Drake show:) At the beginning of the show, Drake (came out wearing #99, WATT baby) teased about how he had a bet with someone that Houston would be the loudest city. He said that he had been counting down the days until this particular show and that we would understand why later. He also mentioned that he knew this show would go over curfew time for the Toyota Center but he was willing to pay the fine and so it began. Drake performed for about an hour, then he brought own down south’s own rapper Bun B, then he came back out and he brought out Future and he totally rocked it. Drake then came back out and that’s when it happened, he was ready to give us the surprise of our night. He brought the one and only Lil Wayne on stage!! The entire arena lost their minds! I can’t even remember the last time they perform together so this was quite a treat to see. The show easily lasted til midnight, amazing! Check out some clips and pics below. Also make sure you join me for the rest of the video and footage plus the interview with J Prince on Fox 26 Morning News this Wednesday morning 9:45!
The crowd was INSANE!
